A key coaching question for you is, "Who needs to pay for your service?" In the financial industry, those who niche outperform the generalists. In fact, those who niche outperform generalists by 62%. They become million dollar producers faster, stay in business longer and report more success, and grow their assets under management 42% faster than generalists... In the nonprofit world, those who serve others stay attentive to their mission. They last longer. 3. ARTICLE: LEAVE THE FAMILIAR HABITS…If you are tired of getting the same results, then you need to change the most important variable in your business. You. When you Leave the Familiar habits, you reinforce new patterns in your brain, and develop new business. Financial professionals do not hire me because of my "system" or "formula." Formulas rarely work. People hire me because I bring a fresh perspective. As old farmers say, "If you keep getting what you've been getting, then you've got to plant something else." I help people leave the familiar. The result? You can grow your business. By definition, a habit is anything that you do twice. If you are smart enough to read this article, then you are smart enough to do the work. Plant something else. You simply need a vision of your success. I love the question, "What if…?" For instance,
Humans are creatures of habit. You are a creature of habit. I am a creature of habit. Those habits determine your success. Or not. For instance, you could spend at least an hour each day developing relationships with prospective clients, or deepening relationships with your top 20%. Or you could stare at the quiet phone. You could read professional journals for an hour each week, and gain enough knowledge to fill a library. You could call yourself an expert. Or instead, you could watch re-runs of Seinfeld. Yes, it takes guts to leave ruts. And when you do something twice it is called a habit. By definition, a habit is anything that you do twice. In the last decade we have doubled our knowledge of how the brain works. Within a millisecond we see data, sort it into words and images, form an emotion, then decide how to respond. If a prospect says they would like to rollover that large fund, we respond one way. Perhaps with Happy Ears. If they say they want to wait before committing to that next meeting, we respond another way. Perhaps with frustration. We know that our emotions affect our responses. And we can trace the chemical responses, within our brain, to different stimuli. That's why when Mr. Prospect delays the meeting one more time, we are inclined to respond with the same emotional response. "What is taking this guy so long to commit?" Did you know that when you respond in the same way you reinforce the same pattern? Cross your arms. Notice which one is on top. Cross your arms the other way. Notice how it feels. You are breaking the habit. There is a patterned response within your brain, with reinforced, thicker neuronal patterns. Makes me wonder what would happen if you broke some habits in your business.
